Hyland Hills is located on a downhill ski slope with plenty of elevation change. While throwing discs up and down steep terrain can change the play of a hole significantly, the official map (on the left) does not show any terrain detail. The map on the right shows hillshade and contour lines (2ft). The official map has a few incorrect hole locations. The tees & baskets were marked by GPS and verified using high resolution aerial imagery. Some of the holes show old locations in use before the course was updated during the construction of the new chalet. A few of these can be seen by comparing the #4 basket, #7 tee and the alignment of #13, #14, & #15. The official map itself is drawn to scale as demonstrated by the chair lifts which line up almost perfectly.
