I was compiling my usual terrain map of this week’s tourney and noticed something more interesting. (I still put in the terrain) The difference between the KMZ data used by the PDGA for their map and the JSON data UDisc used for their MPO layouts on the WR Jackson page is striking. All fairways on this are MPO! The fairway colors were chosen to help distinguish each fairway.
The distance chart was added to compare the difference in footage as represented by the fairway Lon/Lat waypoints in each dataset. The third column is the distance on the tee signs.
The takeaway is that accurate maps at the highest level of competition still do not matter. I hope to change that.
